Trial Attorney/Sr. Trial Attorney - Wayne, PA (Hybrid)

Location: Wayne, Pennsylvania; hybrid schedule with 2 days in the office and 3 days remote. Travel to depositions, court appearances, claims, client meetings, and other events is required; car travel represents approximately 20%–40% of working time.

What you will do

• Represent insureds before assigned courts in the defense of litigated claims and represent Selective in designated matters.
• Manage assigned cases from inception through resolution and develop initial and ongoing defense strategies.
• Analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct legal research, and prepare pleadings, discovery, motions, and briefs.
• Prepare for and handle full trials, appeals, depositions, court appearances, and related litigation activities.
• Provide legal advice and timely communications to clients, claims professionals, courts, witnesses, and opposing counsel.
• Assist with developing training materials for the Claims Department and maintain professional expertise through continuing legal education.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Membership in good standing of the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
• 7+ years of legal experience for Trial Attorney or 15+ years of independent handling of complex cases for Sr. Trial Attorney, in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Strong legal research, writing, oral communication, litigation, analytical, and independent judgment skills.
• Experience with legal case management software, workflows, and task management protocols.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license in good standing and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Edge or Chrome.
