TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer (Robotics) (Machining/Electromechanical Manufacturing): Develops scalable manufacturing processes for humanoid robot components and assemblies with an accent on machining, assembly, inspection, tooling, and production readiness. Focus on improving cycle time, first-pass yield, process reliability, and repeatability while supporting NPI programs from prototype builds through high-volume production.

Location: San Carlos, CA; on-site

Salary: $105,000–$220,000 plus equity

What you will do

  • Develop and release scalable manufacturing processes for robotic components and assemblies.
  • Improve cycle time, first-pass yield, quality, and process reliability through structured continuous improvement.
  • Design and deploy fixtures, tooling, CAM programs, inspection methods, and automation solutions.
  • Support NPI programs from prototype builds through production ramp while maintaining manufacturing readiness.
  • Establish process controls, quality metrics, and documentation for repeatable production performance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience with precision mechanical or electromechanical products.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong fundamentals in machining, assembly, tooling, inspection, process development, DFM, and production scaling.
  • Experience with CAM programming, fixture design, tooling development, electromechanical assembly integration, and precision machining.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance stack analysis, CMM inspection, precision measurement, SPC, quality systems, and root-cause methodologies.
  • Proficiency with CAD, PLM, ERP, and manufacturing documentation workflows, with experience collaborating across design engineering, quality, production, and supply chain.

Nice to have

  • Experience manufacturing robotic actuators, joints, motion-control systems, or other precision electromechanical products.
  • Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing with rapid design iteration.
  • Familiarity with automation, lights-out machining, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, factory layout, workstation design, and material flow optimization.
  • Experience supporting validation builds, NPI, and production ramp-up activities.
