Staff Software Engineer (CMDB)

Annual salary: $115,000–$230,000

What you will do

• Own the strategy, roadmap, architecture, and engineering of the System Catalog and CMDB.
• Define configuration data models, taxonomies, relationships, dependency mappings, and governance standards.
• Design scalable catalog and CMDB systems for on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments.
• Build automated discovery and service-mapping pipelines that maintain accurate configuration data.
• Collaborate with executives, IT teams, and stakeholders to improve ownership, visibility, security, incident response, change management, and cost analysis.
• Mentor engineers and product community members while providing technical leadership.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 8+ years in architecture and design.
• Strong software development experience with Go, Python, TypeScript, and React.
• Knowledge of SQL, NoSQL, and graph databases, data modeling, taxonomy or ontology design, and reference-data management.
• Experience with data-quality, reconciliation, drift-detection, automated discovery, service mapping, and REST or GraphQL API design.
• Knowledge of hybrid cloud architecture, IaaS, PaaS, Kubernetes, observability, networking, and infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent education or experience.

Nice to have

• Experience building or owning a system catalog, service catalog, or configuration management platform at enterprise scale.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service for 4+ years.
