Fullstack Developer (AI)

Location: On-site in Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States; this is not a remote position.

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 per year

What you will do

• Support the Director of AI and Analytics in building and maintaining the university’s proprietary AI suite.
• Design multi-platform AI applications and define system specifications, architecture, and development plans.
• Build LLM-powered tools using Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock, OpenAI APIs, and related cloud AI services.
• Design and optimize RAG pipelines, including embeddings, chunking, retrieval logic, hybrid search, and vector search.
• Develop scalable APIs and SDKs and manage data ingestion, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Use Agile methods and tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira for planning and delivery.

Requirements

• On-site work in Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or related experience.
• 6+ years of software engineering experience in software development and cloud-based applications.
• 2+ years of experience developing AI/LLM applications and 2+ years of experience with AI-assisted coding.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Node.js, Next.js, HTML5, CSS3, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with LLM integration, embeddings, vector search, cloud-native RAG solutions, scalable API development, Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock, and OpenAI APIs.

Nice to have

• React or Vue experience.
• Cloud architecture, scalable microservices, networking, security, and IAM experience.
• Data engineering experience with Azure Data Lake, S3, cloud data warehouses, and ETL/ELT.
• Mobile development experience for iOS or Android.
• DevOps and CI/CD experience with Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, GitLab, and CI pipelines.
