Engineering Manager, Business Technology

Location: San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY; hybrid policy requires staff to be in an office at least 25% of the time

Annual salary: $320,000–$405,000 USD

What you will do

• Lead and grow a team building full-stack internal tools for business-critical use cases.
• Partner with internal teams to understand workflows and improve employee productivity through engineering.
• Set technical direction and prioritize roadmap initiatives for internal users.
• Promote rapid iteration, user feedback, and continuous improvement.
• Champion best practices in API design, security, and user experience.
• Monitor reliability, drive operational excellence, own incident response, and hire and develop engineers.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in engineering management.
• Experience building and shipping production full-stack software with a focus on usability.
• Experience leading scalable internal applications and platforms.
• Strong technical judgment across React, TypeScript, Node, Python, Go, and cloud technologies such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or experience in a relevant field.
• Ability to translate ambiguous user needs into technical direction and communicate empathetically with stakeholders and direct reports.

• Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing engineers.
• Experience balancing security, privacy, reliability, and user experience at scale.
• Experience with Identity and Access Management tools and security best practices.
