Purchasing Supplier Development Analyst (Automotive)

Location: Saline, Michigan, United States; hybrid schedule with onsite presence Tuesday through Thursday and remote work Monday and Friday.

What you will do

• Develop data-driven sourcing strategies and recommendations for supply base efficiency.
• Perform Value Engineering analysis during early design work, including trade-off, sensitivity, and scenario evaluations.
• Establish and monitor cost metrics and KPIs, and create dashboards for leadership reviews.
• Support supplier negotiations through competitive benchmarking, cost-element modeling, and variance analysis.
• Lead Annual Price Reviews by analyzing cost drivers and identifying manufacturing improvement opportunities.
• Analyze commodity market trends and manage supplier relationships and performance through fact-based continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a direct buying role.
• At least 3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, product-cost analysis, or a similar field.
• Experience with supply base strategy analysis, scenario modeling, supplier selection, capacity, risk, and cost trade-offs.
• Ability to evaluate trends, quantify impacts, and communicate decision-quality recommendations to management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP, plus working experience with Power BI and Power Automate.
• Working knowledge of Python, AI, and other data analytics platforms. Must have the right to work in the United States without current or future visa or employment-authorization sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Master's degree or equivalent professional experience in direct buying, analytics, and negotiation for product costs of $1M or more.
• Professional experience in automotive direct buying, including product-cost analysis and negotiation.
