VP of Software (Aerospace)

Location: Playa Vista, California; in-person five days per week. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals under 22 C.F.R. § 120.15, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S.

Salary: $275,000–$325,000 annually, plus performance-based bonuses and equity.

What you will do

• Own the software strategy and roadmap across flight software, ground systems, and infrastructure.
• Build, scale, and lead a high-performing software engineering organization.
• Make architecture decisions balancing reliability, performance, and iteration speed.
• Partner with avionics, GN&C, and integration and test teams on software integration.
• Establish software development, testing, release, metrics, and reporting processes.
• Collaborate with executive leadership on technical strategy and prioritization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in executive leadership roles.
• Experience leading software teams at high-growth technology or aerospace companies.
• Deep experience across flight software, ground software, and infrastructure.
• Strong architecture judgment, technical and strategic instincts, leadership, and communication skills.
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain required U.S. authorizations.

Nice to have

• Background in aerospace, launch vehicles, or spacecraft software.
• Experience with flight-critical or safety-critical software systems.
• Startup experience or familiarity with fast-paced, high-growth environments.
