Mechanical Engineer (New Grad December 2026)

Location: Los Angeles, CA; based in Hawthorne with full-time onsite presence five days a week

Salary: $95,000–$110,000 per year, depending on academic level and demonstrated experience

What you will do

• Own mechanical hardware projects from concept through production and deployment.
• Research, design, fabricate, integrate, and test mechanical components, subassemblies, equipment, and systems.
• Design complex mechanical assemblies, precision motion systems, and thermal and fluid subsystems.
• Perform system- and subsystem-level tolerance analysis and plan tests for feasibility, operation, and performance.
• Collaborate with electrical and software engineers to integrate production-ready platforms.
• Develop continuous improvement plans that increase performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an ABET-accredited university or college.
• Hands-on design experience from internships or engineering clubs such as FSAE, Baja SAE, solar car, rocket club, or robotics club.
• Full life-cycle hardware design experience spanning hand calculations, CAD, fabrication, and testing.
• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and a first-principles approach to problem solving.
• Ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with minimal oversight.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Knowledge of motion control, kinematics, fluid systems, thermal systems, or electromechanical systems.
• Interest in advancing metal 3D printing and experience iterating in ambiguous environments.
• Strong communication, ownership, resilience, and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
