TL;DR
Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor - Data Center Construction (Hyperscale Data Centers): Leading cost planning, estimating, commercial management, and financial control for large-scale hyperscale data center facilities and mission-critical infrastructure with an accent on power infrastructure, AI-ready design requirements, value engineering, and cost governance. Focus on managing change orders, negotiating contractor pricing, producing executive cost reports, and overseeing post-contract reporting and final account close-out.

Location: On-site in Berkeley County, West Virginia, United States, with travel to Manassas, Virginia approximately 25% of the time. On-site requirements may change based on client needs.

What you will do

  • Lead cost planning, estimating, and commercial management for hyperscale data center facilities, substations, site infrastructure, and supporting utilities.
  • Develop and maintain cost plans, estimates, valuations, commitment tracking, reconciliations, and monthly commercial reports.
  • Manage change control, cost variances, contingencies, change orders, final accounts, and project close-out.
  • Review and negotiate contractor and subcontractor pricing while driving commercially sound outcomes.
  • Evaluate power infrastructure, energy capacity, AI-ready design requirements, value engineering options, sustainability, and cost certainty.
  • Serve as the primary client interface for cost and commercial matters and coordinate with designers, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and senior stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5–7+ years of relevant cost management experience in the construction industry.
  • Experience leading cost management on medium to large, high-complexity projects, preferably data centers, mission-critical facilities, or major infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of procurement strategies, value management, and value engineering.
  • Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
