Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor - Life Sciences Construction

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States. On-site presence and requirements may change depending on client needs.

Base salary: $140,000–$165,000 USD per year, plus potential bonuses and benefits.

What you will do

• Act as the day-to-day client interface for cost management across complex life sciences construction projects.
• Develop and present estimates, cost plans, milestone updates, valuations, monthly cost reports, and final account negotiations.
• Estimate, validate, reconcile, and negotiate contractor and subcontractor changes and pricing throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate cost information from suppliers, subcontractors, design teams, general contractors, and owner project managers.
• Drive cost-informed engineering, design optioneering, value engineering, contingency tracking, commitment logging, and change control.
• Lead cost controls and commercial delivery while coaching team members and maintaining accurate financial, fee, and resource tracking.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5–7 years of relevant construction cost management experience.
• Experience leading cost management on medium- to large-scale, complex construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work independently and in a client-facing role.
• Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with laboratory, pharmaceutical, or life sciences construction projects.
• RICS accreditation or progress toward accreditation.
