Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor (Data Center Construction): Leading cost management, quantity surveying, estimating, change control, and commercial delivery for large-scale mission-critical construction projects with an accent on data center developments, cost planning, and value engineering. Focus on negotiating change orders, validating contractor costs, managing budgets and contingencies, and producing client-facing cost reports.

Location: New York, New York, United States. On-site presence requirements may change depending on client needs.

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 USD gross annual base salary, plus potential bonus and benefits.

What you will do

  • Lead cost management and quantity surveying across large-scale, mission-critical construction projects, including data center developments.
  • Prepare cost estimates, cost plans, valuations, monthly cost reports, funding data, and benchmarking information across project phases.
  • Estimate, negotiate, and control change orders, post-contract cost variances, final accounts, contingencies, and commitments.
  • Review contractor and subcontractor pricing, validate cost data, and coordinate with owners, project managers, designers, suppliers, and general contractors.
  • Provide commercial input into design optioneering, constructability, value engineering, procurement, and schedule decisions.
  • Lead and mentor team members while managing commission margins, fees, resource forecasts, and delivery processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of relevant construction-industry cost management experience.
  • Experience leading cost management on medium- to large-scale construction projects, preferably in data centers, mission-critical, industrial, or highly technical environments.
  • Knowledge of construction-industry technical matters, procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working in a client-facing environment.
  • Ability to work independently, lead delivery, and resolve cost and scheduling challenges on dynamic projects.

Nice to have

  • RICS accreditation or active progress toward accreditation.
  • Construction consultancy experience.
