Field Service Engineer III - Implant (Semiconductor Ion Implant)

Location: Phoenix, Arizona, United States; Hsinchu, Taiwan; Taichung, Taiwan; Tainan, Taiwan. Travel required: 20% of the time. Relocation eligible.

What you will do

• Install, maintain, upgrade, repair, and optimize semiconductor manufacturing equipment, particularly ion implant systems.
• Act as the primary technical contact for customers and support equipment operation in advanced manufacturing environments.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues using diagnostic software, analytics, schematics, equipment logs, and root-cause analysis.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, system recoveries, calibrations, and optimization activities.
• Work with senior engineers, technical support teams, and customers to resolve complex issues and minimize downtime.
• Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and cleanroom requirements while supporting customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electronics, engineering technology, mechatronics, or a related field; military technical training, trade certification, or equivalent experience is also considered.
• 2–4 years of field service, semiconductor equipment support, manufacturing equipment maintenance, or related technical experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, vacuum, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic systems using diagnostic tools, including DMMs.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
• Experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment, preferably ion implant systems, plus strong communication and Microsoft Office skills.
• Ability to work independently in customer fabs while maintaining safety and operational standards.

Nice to have

• 4–7 years of experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing equipment, especially ion implant systems.
• Knowledge of vacuum systems, beamline components, power supplies, gas delivery, robotics and automation, wafer handling, and process control systems.
• Experience with equipment calibrations, system recoveries, diagnostic software, equipment logs, and corrective actions.
