Senior Design and Test Engineer (Networking)

Location: Hybrid — 3 days per week in the office and 2 days from home, based at hirify.global offices in Ipswich, Birmingham, or London, United Kingdom.

What you will do

• Design, coordinate, and lead network-level migration of UK business services onto modern strategic NaaS platforms.
• Assess existing and planned IPP, IPVPN, BTnet, and Ethernet platforms, including customer migration impacts.
• Design, build, test, validate, maintain, and support network infrastructure components.
• Implement new and enhanced networking technologies for enterprise and remote-site connectivity.
• Contribute to technology lifecycle planning, technology roadmaps, and Network Health Assessments.
• Prepare documentation, deliver knowledge transfer and training, and support the operational organisation after solution deployment.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience designing, testing, and operating networking technologies including BGP, IPVPN, and MPLS.
• Experience implementing and managing changes in live operational network environments with minimal service disruption.
• Systematic problem-solving skills and effective verbal and written communication.
• Experience deploying and maintaining networks and collaborating with operational teams.
• Ability to work across teams and communicate complex technical ideas and solutions.
• Experience with the full development lifecycle, from requirements capture through deployment and in-life support.

Nice to have

• Experience with agile delivery and BT business connectivity products.
• Experience with gNMI, JSON, YANG, and REST-based APIs.
• Cisco CCNP certification or equivalent vendor experience.
• Demonstrable experience with Python or a similar programming language.
• Membership in a professional body such as the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
