Health and Safety Specialist

Location: Onsite in San Francisco, California, typically at least four days per week; occasional travel to offices in Seattle and New York City is expected.

Annual salary: $180,000–$230,000 USD

What you will do

• Run onsite health and safety inspections, hazard and risk assessments, ergonomics activities, and corrective-action follow-through at the San Francisco office.
• Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, and illnesses, and manage occupational health cases from initial report through return-to-work and closure.
• Own OSHA recordkeeping for US sites, including the annual 300/300A process.
• Support health and safety committees and volunteer emergency response teams by coordinating meetings, drills, and action items.
• Coordinate H&S training, maintain training calendars, and manage occupational health, ergonomics, training, and audit vendors.
• Maintain H&S documentation and reporting systems while contributing field knowledge to broader programs and standards.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in a hands-on occupational health and safety role.
• Strong working knowledge of US federal OSHA and California Title 8 (Cal/OSHA) requirements.
• Ability to interpret regulations, make clear safety decisions, and engage employees and partners in H&S programs.
• Experience writing SOPs, playbooks, program documents, presentations, and training content.
• Hands-on experience with incident reporting, risk assessment, learning management, and related H&S software tools.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and experience in a relevant field.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Washington and New York safety requirements or experience across multiple US sites.
• Certifications such as CSP, ASP/GSP, CIH, COHN, or comparable US-recognized credentials.
• Familiarity with ISO 45001, occupational health, fire safety, or industrial hygiene.
• Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new applications and systems quickly.
