Location: Los Angeles, California, United States. The role requires frequent travel, irregular hours, 24/7 on-call availability, and living or being willing to relocate within 50 miles of the designated work location. Training takes place in Fort Worth, Texas and at the assigned location.

Salary: $150,000–$166,000 per year

What you will do

  • Execute high-risk apprehensions, rail corridor interdiction, infrastructure protection, and emergency response missions.
  • Participate in multi-state deployments and rapidly respond to incidents across the BNSF network.
  • Operate and maintain specialized tactical equipment, vehicles, communications platforms, night-vision systems, breaching tools, and drones.
  • Conduct surveillance, reconnaissance, and targeted enforcement with SRT leadership and partner agencies.
  • Maintain tactical readiness through training, fitness standards, firearms qualification, and certification compliance.
  • Support incident command operations and navigate railroad hazards, including moving trains, confined corridors, remote rights-of-way, and hazardous materials.

Requirements

  • Must be commissioned as a peace officer in the state where the position is posted and maintain a valid state peace officer license.
  • At least three years of sworn law enforcement experience and experience coordinating with multiple law enforcement agencies.
  • Ability to travel frequently, work irregular hours, provide 24/7 on-call coverage, and perform patrol duties.
  • Knowledge of criminal law, railroad operations, right-of-way hazards, emergency response, critical infrastructure protection, and federal rail security frameworks including TSA, FRA, and DHS.
  • Valid driver’s license, firearms qualification, strong decision-making and situational awareness, and the ability to operate tactical communications and surveillance systems.
  • High school diploma or GED; must pass physical, psychological, background, medical, drug-screening, written, and marksmanship assessments.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of BNSF rail network operations and safety protocols.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Completion of basic SWAT or SRT school.
