Bad Faith, Claim Litigation Counsel (Insurance)

Location: Beachwood, Ohio, United States; hybrid schedule requiring 3 days in the office per week

Annual salary: $135,300–$260,350

What you will do

• Manage strategy for high-profile bad faith and other complex litigation matters.
• Advise Claims Operations and business stakeholders on litigation strategy, risk management, trial preparation, insurance coverage, and extra-contractual liability.
• Collaborate with and manage outside counsel while maintaining control over case strategy, expenses, and dispute resolution.
• Coordinate and participate in internal discovery with Operations, Technology, and legal management.
• Escalate complex matters, conduct legal research, and advise leadership on pending litigation and litigation trends.
• Monitor legislation, regulations, and emerging developments in insurance, claims, and litigation procedure.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• At least 5 years of litigation management experience in a law firm, government, or in-house legal role.
• Experience managing high-stakes, complex litigation, including trial and appellate matters.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives and manage multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholders.

• Experience litigating bad faith, bodily injury, or insurance coverage matters.
• Experience working for an insurance company or advising an insurance claims organization.
