Sr Consultant, Brokerage Property Underwriting - E&S Brokerage Property Unit (E&S)

Location: Remote for candidates located in the Western U.S.; travel throughout the region is required for in-person broker meetings and relationship-building activities.

Salary: $136,000–$242,000 national annual range; expected starting range of $136,000–$204,000.

What you will do

• Underwrite complex E&S brokerage property risks for acceptability, pricing, coverage, terms, conditions, and policy wording.
• Analyze exposures, claims, loss history, premium results, broker submissions, market trends, and competitor intelligence.
• Manage relationships with large wholesale brokers, support production and loss-ratio goals, and travel for broker training and marketing visits.
• Determine and place appropriate treaty, semiautomatic, and facultative reinsurance for individual accounts.
• Research and develop new business classes, including market viability, forms and endorsements, rates, and marketing strategies.
• Resolve complex technical questions, approve referrals, and coach, teach, and mentor underwriters.

Requirements

• At least eight years of commercial-lines underwriting experience handling large or complex accounts.
• Technical expertise in shared or layered property underwriting; E&S lines experience is preferred.
• Experience managing individual property portfolios and relationships with large wholesale brokers.
• Knowledge of complex underwriting, insurance law, catastrophe management, alternative rating methods, pricing theory, and treaty and facultative reinsurance.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, collaboration, desk-management, and prioritization skills.
• Undergraduate degree preferred; equivalent work experience may substitute. Insurance designations such as CPCU, CIC, AU, ARM, CPIW, CWIS, or ASLI are preferred.

• Experience with a broad range of occupancies and account sizes.
• Completion of general insurance courses or professional insurance designations.
