TL;DR
Excess Workers' Compensation, Regional Underwriting Manager (Insurance Underwriting): Managing a regional book of business focused on complex association accounts with an accent on pooled-risk analysis, program structuring, and broker and client relationships. Focus on evaluating aggregated loss data, negotiating pricing and terms, developing association opportunities, and mentoring underwriters.

Location: Hybrid schedule with at least 3 days per week in either the St. Louis, MO or Oklahoma City, OK office; up to 40% travel required.

Salary: $101,500–$131,000 target base salary annually, plus potential bonus and incentive awards.

What you will do

  • Manage a regional book of Excess Workers’ Compensation business, focusing on complex association and group accounts.
  • Evaluate pooled and aggregated risk exposures, loss data, claims trends, financials, and actuarial information.
  • Structure competitive insurance programs and negotiate pricing, terms, and program conditions within underwriting authority.
  • Build broker, association leader, risk manager, and client relationships while developing a pipeline of new opportunities.
  • Underwrite new and renewal business and represent hirify.global at industry and association events.
  • Operate independently, contribute to strategic initiatives, and mentor less experienced underwriters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, insurance, finance, accounting, marketing, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience underwriting large commercial accounts.
  • Knowledge of regional markets, brokers, and client segments, with the ability to analyze complex exposures and pooled loss data.
  • Experience negotiating underwriting program structure, pricing, and terms.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel for data analysis.
  • Must currently be authorized to work in the United States without present or future company-sponsored work authorization.

Nice to have

  • Experience with association risk structures, member-based exposures, loss-sensitive accounts, captives, or large multi-member programs.
  • CPCU or another insurance industry designation.
  • Experience with actuarial data, large-loss analysis, claims trending, or advanced workers’ compensation regulations.
  • Experience mentoring underwriting staff and collaborating with claims, legal, and business development teams.
