Paralegal Specialist (Insurance Litigation)

Location: California - Los Angeles; hybrid schedule, with 100% remote work considered depending on location. Occasional travel may be required.

Salary: $79,500-$119,500 expected starting range; national range $79,500-$148,500 annually.

What you will do

• Provide pre-trial and trial support for complex litigated property and casualty insurance defense and subrogation matters.
• Draft, review, file, and serve motions, pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, document production materials, and discovery responses.
• Conduct legal research, summarize medical records, prepare medical chronologies and deposition outlines, and draft deposition summaries.
• Coordinate depositions, hearings, meetings, client and expert communications, court filings, exhibits, binders, and appendices.
• Review court dockets, retrieve case information, maintain filing and follow-up systems, and support litigation strategy.
• Mentor and train paralegals and senior paralegals and assist with onboarding trial team members.

Requirements

• Typically eight years of experience in a paralegal capacity involving insurance-related litigation.
• Paralegal studies certification strongly preferred, or demonstrated insurance litigation paralegal experience.
• Knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, litigation processes, court procedures, local rules, and federal and state e-filing systems.
• Strong legal research, writing, organization, communication, technology, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, exercise judgment, and comply with applicable ethical and corporate policies.
• Credit and background checks are required as part of the selection process.

Nice to have

• Undergraduate studies in business administration, insurance, or a related field.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Legal Files, case management databases, and e-Court systems.
• Understanding of personal and commercial lines insurance policies.
