Associate Counsel - Queens, NY (Remote)

Location: Remote within the United States; hirify.global Staff Counsel covering venues within Queens, New York

Annual salary: $118,900–$186,550

What you will do

• Defend lawsuits filed in New York courts and handle first-party insurance defense matters.
• Research applicable laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Provide opinions on liability, damages, and case value for the Claims Department.
• Prepare and manage pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, examinations before trial, and examinations under oath.
• Defend assigned matters at trial or dispositive hearings.
• Travel as required for trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Admission to the New York Bar and an active license in good standing to practice law in New York required.
• Two to six or more years of related litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense or personal injury.
• Ability to meet and maintain applicable licensing and continuing legal education requirements.
• Strong written communication, organization, prioritization, multitasking, conflict-resolution, and analytical skills.
• Ability to learn and apply substantial technical and procedural information.

Nice to have

• Civil litigation experience.
• Insurance defense-related litigation experience.
• Professional communication skills in person, by telephone, and in written correspondence or email.
