Lead AV Installation Technician

Location: Sterling, Virginia, USA; onsite field work with frequent local travel and occasional remote travel.

Salary: $38.70–$49.28 per hour

What you will do

• Lead technicians, subcontractors, and union trades while performing hands-on installation of commercial AV systems.
• Install displays, projectors, loudspeakers, microphones, equipment racks, cabling, custom panels, and related technology.
• Interpret functional design drawings and cable riser diagrams, complete cable terminations, and manage cable labeling.
• Handle advanced fiber optic installation, termination, repair, and testing.
• Coordinate daily workload, materials, schedules, quality control, and risk escalation with project managers and site supervisors.
• Make independent onsite decisions, troubleshoot technical issues, and communicate with clients and contractors.

Requirements

• Five or more years of commercial AV installation or related industry experience.
• Experience supervising, coaching, and training installation technicians.
• Advanced knowledge of AV components, cabling, device integration, rack assembly, networking equipment, and low-voltage electrical concepts.
• Ability to interpret complex project documentation, troubleshoot technical problems, and use power tools safely.
• High school diploma or GED and OSHA 30 certification required.
• Valid driver’s license required; ability to travel by car and occasionally by airplane, work on construction sites, climb ladders, and lift up to 40 pounds.

Nice to have

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• AVIXA CTS or CTS-I certification.
• Other certifications relevant to the position’s technology focus.
