Controls Engineer

Location: 101 Industrial Drive, New Bern, North Carolina, United States

Salary: $70,000–$110,000 USD per year, plus an annual bonus or role-based sales incentive plan.

What you will do

• Design and program electrical controls for custom assembly applications, including hardware specifications, electrical bills of materials, integration, and schematics.
• Support automated and semi-automated manufacturing equipment using robotics, vision systems, motion control, sensors, and variable frequency drives.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and equipment repair with maintenance and engineering personnel.
• Apply machine safety and wiring standards, update design specifications, and modify existing equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, operations, IT, integrators, and machine builders on product development, automation projects, and facility improvements.
• Maintain control programs, electrical drawings, shop floor data systems, and documentation for maintenance and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Knowledge of controls design, panel construction, and PLC programming in high-volume assembly environments.
• Experience or knowledge in integrating automated equipment, including robotics, motion control, vision systems, digital and analog sensors, and variable frequency drives.
• Functional knowledge of machine safety, wiring standards, and relevant code requirements.
• Functional knowledge of network architecture and infrastructure.
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
