Automation Engineer/Sr

Location: Boulder, Colorado, United States

Salary: $120,000–$140,000 per year for Automation Engineer; $140,000–$170,000 per year for Sr Automation Engineer, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Maintain, troubleshoot, modify, and upgrade PLCs, robotics, control systems, and automated manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnose automation failures and provide technical support to production, maintenance, and engineering teams.
• Improve equipment performance, cycle time, productivity, reliability, and process consistency through automation enhancements.
• Support the design, testing, integration, commissioning, validation, and startup of new automation systems and equipment upgrades.
• Analyze equipment performance data, identify root causes, and implement process-control improvements.
• Maintain automation documentation and support safety, regulatory, operating procedure, and training requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience with industrial automation systems in manufacturing; at least 8 years is required for the Sr level.
• Experience with PLC programming, robotics, automated production lines, or equipment integration.
• Strong knowledge of Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms, plus HMI systems, sensors, and industrial control systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and automation issues and apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Visa sponsorship is not available. The role involves information subject to ITAR regulations.
