Senior Equipment Engineer (Automation & Smart Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite at the Normandale campus in Bloomington, Minnesota, United States; up to 10% travel.

Salary: $94,140–$134,625 base salary per year.

What you will do

• Own the technical performance, reliability, and long-term evolution of advanced wafer fabrication equipment.
• Lead troubleshooting, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions for recurring equipment failures.
• Analyze equipment data to improve throughput, uptime, scrap rates, and manufacturing productivity.
• Develop AI-driven monitoring and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Lead equipment upgrades, installations, automation initiatives, and capital improvement projects.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Automation, Quality, technicians, and Data Science teams while mentoring less experienced engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related technical field with 5+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 3+ years, or a PhD with 0+ years, or equivalent education and experience.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting, optimizing, and improving complex manufacturing equipment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with statistical analysis methods or tools such as JMP, Minitab, SPC, DOE, or Six Sigma.
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, reliability engineering, equipment controls, factory automation, or MES.
• Ability to work onsite in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Nice to have

• AI or machine learning experience applied to equipment monitoring or manufacturing optimization.
• Semiconductor or wafer fabrication experience, including photolithography, electroplating, or metrology.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, DMAIC, RCM, robotics, motion control, PLCs, sensors, machine vision, or industrial networking.
• Experience with SQL, Python, Power BI, dashboards, or automated monitoring tools.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
