Legal Counsel (Insurance Defense)

Location: Hybrid/remote role based in Richardson/Dallas, Texas, United States; travel is required for trials, hearings, depositions, meetings, and conferences.

What you will do

• Defend lawsuits filed in Texas courts and handle first-party insurance defense matters.
• Research applicable law and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Provide claims-related opinions on liability, damages, and case value.
• Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, and examinations under oath.
• Defend assigned matters at trial or dispositive hearings.

Requirements

• 7+ years of litigation experience in insurance defense, general defense, and/or personal injury are required.
• Juris Doctor degree is required.
• Admission to the Texas Bar and an active license in good standing to practice law in Texas are required.
• Maintain applicable licensing requirements, including mandatory continuing legal education.
• Write clear, concise, and professional case documentation.
• Follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts, organize priorities, manage multiple matters, and apply extensive technical and procedural information.

• Civil litigation experience.
• Insurance defense-related litigation experience.
