BIM Designer, Electrical

Location: Houston, Texas, USA; ideally based in the San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston offices. Full-time onsite work is expected except for bi-weekly work-from-home Fridays, with possible exceptions for exceptional candidates outside these hubs.

What you will do

• Build and maintain federated Revit and Navisworks models for electrical infrastructure, including substations, transformers, switchgear, cable tray, busway, conduit, and raceway.
• Develop models from concept through fabrication-ready LOD 400 releases and integrate MCAD geometry into Revit families and IFC content.
• Run Navisworks clash tests, manage issue resolution, publish coordination reports, and lead coordination review meetings.
• Establish BIM templates, worksets, shared parameters, naming conventions, view templates, and parametric equipment libraries.
• Produce coordination drawings, general arrangements, and model-derived quantity takeoffs for procurement and estimating.
• Maintain model health through auditing, purging, worksharing hygiene, and file-size management.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional BIM modeling experience, including at least 3 years coordinating federated multidisciplinary models.
• Expert Autodesk Revit skills, including family creation, parametric content, worksharing, and template configuration.
• Experience independently managing Navisworks Manage clash detection, test matrices, batch testing, and issue resolution.
• Direct experience with electrical power infrastructure such as substations, switchgear, transformers, or high-capacity distribution.
• Working knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, IEEE/ANSI C57, UL 891, and NEMA enclosure standards.
• Ability to interpret electrical single-line diagrams, schematics, and structural steel drawings and independently run multidisciplinary coordination processes.

Nice to have

• Experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities, modular or prefabricated electrical equipment, or e-house systems.
• ISO 19650 information management and BIM Execution Plan authorship experience.
• 4D construction sequencing with Navisworks TimeLiner or Synchro.
• Experience in an OEM or manufacturing environment where models support production.
