Associate Engineer, Transmission Line Engineering

Location: Manchester, NH. The role combines office and field work and requires travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire, with occasional to significant car travel and emergency restoration assignments.

Annual salary: $82,800–$92,000 USD, commensurate with experience, with potential incentive eligibility.

What you will do

• Support project initiation through estimates, justifications, scopes, drawings, photographs, and related documentation.
• Design overhead and underground transmission lines, supporting structures, foundations, duct banks, and associated infrastructure using PLS-CADD and related software.
• Perform technical analyses including clearance evaluations, ampacity calculations, asset-condition assessments, and system engineering reviews.
• Develop siting, permitting, specifications, material lists, reports, cost estimates, and drawing packages for procurement and construction.
• Provide field and technical support during construction, maintenance, replacement, and remediation of transmission line facilities.
• Collaborate with asset management, real estate, legal, regulatory, governmental affairs, customer service, and other internal organizations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering; civil or mechanical engineering is preferred.
• 0–3 years of related experience; engineering design experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of transmission line civil, structural, and electrical engineering concepts and construction techniques.
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code, applicable Massachusetts DPU regulations, and IEEE, CIGRE, ICEA, AEIC, and IEC standards.
• Familiarity with PLS-CADD and related tools such as SAG10, L-Pile, MathCAD, Pull Planner, USAmp, CYMCAP, MATLAB, and FEA/COMSOL.
• Visa sponsorship is not available; applicants requiring immigration-related sponsorship will not be considered. A valid driver’s license and availability for required travel are also required.
