Electrical Engineer (MCI Protection & Control)

Location: Fully remote or in-office in Lakewood, Colorado; applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.

Salary: $85,000–$125,000 per year, based on the Denver, Colorado labor market.

What you will do

• Perform detailed protection and control design for electrical power systems, including one-line and three-line diagrams, relaying and control schematics, SCADA, communications, grounding, and cable routing.
• Prepare computer-based models and conduct short-circuit, load-flow, relay-coordination, arc-flash, power-factor, harmonic, and related power system studies.
• Develop protective relay, RTU, DFR, and network settings, supported by hand checks of computer-aided results.
• Prepare sequence-of-events documentation, equipment specifications, proposals, studies, cost estimates, and project schedules.
• Provide field assistance and troubleshooting, and review the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel.
• Support client communication, project meetings, and deliverable quality under the direction of a Professional Engineer.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution; an electric power option is preferred.
• 1–5 years of relevant engineering or field experience.
• Knowledge of electrical design and relevant codes and standards.
• Effective written and oral communication and strong interpersonal skills.
• Current authorization to work full-time in the United States is required.
• Ability to work in an office environment, perform some field work, travel approximately 5–10%, and lift 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• FE or PE licensure.
• Experience with IEEE 2030.7.
• Experience with NERC PRC interconnection standards.
