TL;DR
Property Claims Adjuster II - NEX (Property Claims): Investigating and resolving moderate to severe property damage claims across the North Central California territory with an accent on coverage decisions, estimating, customer service, and field inspections. Focus on writing Xactimate estimates, inspecting rooftops and property loss sites, identifying fraud and subrogation opportunities, and handling catastrophe assignments.

Location: Work from home within or near San Joaquin or Stanislaus County, California, with day travel to policy locations an average of 3–4 days per week. Occasional overnight travel, irregular hours, on-call work, and catastrophe assignments are required. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates living more than 50 miles outside the territory.

Salary: $62,500–$115,500 annually; expected starting range: $62,500–$93,500.

What you will do

  • Investigate, evaluate, and resolve moderate to severe property damage claims by phone and through face-to-face handling.
  • Determine policy coverage, apply claims practices, and manage claim reserves within delegated authority.
  • Write repair requirements and cost estimates using Xactimate and local market pricing.
  • Conduct onsite and virtual inspections, including physical rooftop inspections using ladders.
  • Identify fraud and subrogation opportunities and coordinate with Special Investigation and Subrogation units.
  • Provide guidance and service to policyholders, claimants, repair professionals, attorneys, agents, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of property claims handling or insurance field adjusting experience.
  • Proficiency with Xactimate and experience writing estimates and handling claims from start to finish.
  • Construction experience in residential work, roofing, remodeling, or water mitigation.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to safely inspect first- and second-story rooftops, including roofs with pitches up to 8/12, and work outdoors in all weather.
  • Willingness and availability to work catastrophes, irregular or extended hours, and occasional overnight travel.

Nice to have

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Customer service experience involving flexible schedules and extended hours.
  • State licensing where required.

Hiring process
