Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection

Location: Los Angeles/Van Nuys/Hollywood/Pasadena/SGV, California; candidates must reside within the listed service-area ZIP codes. This is a remote-field role combining work from home with in-person appointments, mobile-office/vehicle use, and travel to other territories when needed.

Salary: $69,398.62–$111,595.00 annually, plus potential incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess residential and commercial property damage.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Explain coverage, evaluate policy terms, estimate damages, and determine claim validity.
• Gather evidence, document findings, and prepare detailed claims reports.
• Collaborate with policyholders, agents, and other parties while providing customer service during difficult conversations.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits and applicable guidelines.

Requirements

• Must reside within the assigned Los Angeles-area service territory and be able to travel for field appointments and occasional support in other territories.
• Ability to investigate problems, evaluate information, interpret policies, and make well-supported decisions.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and customer-service skills.
• Proficiency with mobile and desktop tools for documenting claims in the field and remotely.
• Physical ability to walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb ladders, lift and carry equipment, traverse roofs, and crawl in tight spaces.
• Valid driver’s license required; motor vehicle record and background checks are part of pre-employment screening. Required training and licensing exams must be completed.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management, insurance, business, construction management, or a related field.
• Property insurance, claims handling, residential or commercial construction, and water mitigation knowledge.
• Experience with Xactimate and XactContents.
• Customer service experience involving clear and empathetic communication.
