Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection (Property Insurance)

Location: Minot, North Dakota; candidates must reside within the listed ZIP codes and service the same territory. This is a remote-field role performed from home with a mobile office/vehicle and frequent in-person property inspections. Travel outside the assigned territory may occasionally be required.

Salary: $63,089.65–$90,000 annually, plus potential yearly incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess damage for residential, commercial, and large-loss property claims.
• Investigate and adjust claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Evaluate coverage, policy terms, regulations, and claim validity.
• Gather evidence, document findings, and prepare detailed claim reports.
• Collaborate with policyholders, agents, and other involved parties while handling difficult conversations.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits.

Requirements

• Must reside within the listed ZIP codes around Minot and hold a valid driver's license.
• Ability to investigate problems, evaluate information, interpret detailed policies, and make well-supported decisions.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and customer-service skills.
• Proficiency with mobile and desktop tools for documenting claims in the field and remotely.
• Physical agility for frequent lifting, carrying, ladder climbing, roof navigation, and crawling in confined spaces.
• Successful completion of required training, licensing examinations, motor vehicle record checks, background checks, and possible rope-and-harness safety training.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent property-claims experience.
• Knowledge of property insurance policies, claim handling, and residential and commercial construction.
• Water mitigation inspection experience.
• Experience with Xactimate and XactContents.
