Salary: $138,000–$243,000 annually; expected starting range: $138,000–$206,000

What you will do

• Underwrite highly complex medical and non-medical life insurance applications within approved authority limits.
• Assess mortality and morbidity risks, determine evidence requirements and risk classifications, and apply accelerated underwriting strategies.
• Evaluate complex personal and business financial information, establish insurable interest, and support financial underwriting decisions.
• Coordinate and negotiate automatic and facultative reinsurance for complex cases.
• Consult with underwriters, medical directors, chief underwriters, reinsurers, sales agencies, and financial professionals.
• Lead special projects, mentor underwriting personnel, present to field partners, and contribute to underwriting philosophy and best practices.

Requirements

• More than 10 years of life underwriting and brokerage experience, including at least five years reviewing large cases exceeding $10 million.
• Significant experience in both medical and financial underwriting of life insurance applications.
• Advanced risk selection, financial analysis, negotiation, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to make highly complex decisions with minimal direction and work with sophisticated insurance risks, policy language, alternative rating plans, and reinsurance.
• Ability to coach, train, mentor, collaborate with technical teams, and influence internal and external partners.
• Employer-sponsored work authorization is not available; hirify.global does not participate in the STEM OPT Extension program.

Nice to have

• FALU, CLU, FLMI, or LOMA Level 1 certification or designation.
• EKG certification.
• Undergraduate studies in medicine, insurance, risk management, economics, finance, or business management.
