State Product Manager - Personal Lines

Location: Remote within the United States; this position could be filled within any of the lower 48 U.S. states.

Salary: $108,000–$200,000 annually; expected starting range: $108,000–$162,000.

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and manage multi-year strategies for assigned states within the Personal Lines portfolio.
• Own state-level strategy and performance, including revenue growth, combined ratio, profitability, and P&L objectives.
• Analyze financial results, product profitability, business mix, competitive information, and performance forecasts.
• Drive product launches and refinements covering pricing, underwriting appetite, product structure, enhancements, and distribution strategy.
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Claims, Actuarial, Underwriting, Technology, and Legal stakeholders.
• Manage direct reports, including performance, hiring, training, development, workflow, and day-to-day leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in insurance, actuarial science, mathematics, risk management, economics, finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field; an MBA is preferred.
• Eight years of experience in underwriting or product is preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of Personal Lines insurance products, pricing architecture, state regulations, underwriting procedures, and standard methodologies.
• Experience analyzing financials, trends, competitor data, and product performance.
• Strong strategic thinking, critical thinking, communication, influence, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage projects, competing priorities, timelines, resources, and cross-functional relationships.

Nice to have

• Experience managing states to P&L objectives, particularly Colorado, South Carolina, Arkansas, Connecticut, or Rhode Island.
• Cross-functional experience and data analysis background.
• Progress toward or completion of CPCU, AU, CIC, INS, ARM, actuarial exams, or similar designations.
• Experience with analytical tools, relational databases, data visualization, query-based languages, or statistical software.
