Field Claims Adjuster III, Property

Location: Ohio; ideal candidates will be located in Ohio or Western Pennsylvania. Travel may reach 80%, with possible overnight stays and irregular hours.

Salary: $79,500–$148,500 annually; expected starting range: $79,500–$119,500.

What you will do

• Handle assigned property claims, including complex and catastrophic losses, from initial investigation through settlement.
• Determine policy coverage, evaluate liability, recommend settlements, and manage claim reserves within delegated authority.
• Write property damage estimates using Xactimate and maintain knowledge of local repair procedures and market pricing.
• Inspect loss sites, including rooftops, and work with policyholders, claimants, repair professionals, attorneys, agents, the Special Investigation Unit, and Subrogation.
• Identify fraud and subrogation opportunities and prepare files for litigation, trial, or recovery actions.
• Mentor less experienced claims associates, provide training, and support Claims Management as assigned.

Requirements

• Five years of experience handling property claims, insurance processing, or field claims adjusting.
• Proficiency with Xactimate, including writing estimates and handling claims from start to finish.
• Ability to investigate extensive property damage, apply policy coverages and exclusions, evaluate claims, and negotiate settlements.
• Strong customer service, analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to safely climb ladders and inspect first- and second-story rooftops with pitches up to 8/12, work outdoors in all weather, and perform physical inspections.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record; willingness to work irregular hours, travel, remain on call, and perform required catastrophe duty.

Hiring process

• A valid credit check and/or background check is required because of the role’s fiduciary accountability.
• Xactimate Level 1 certification must be obtained within one year of starting, and Level 2 certification within two years.
