Principal Data Modeler Architect (Snowflake)

Location: Reston, Virginia, United States; onsite collaboration is generally preferred.

Salary: $167,383.91–$251,075.87 annual base pay

What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of enterprise conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Define and enforce enterprise modeling standards, naming conventions, metadata, data lineage, quality, and governance practices.
• Architect and optimize Snowflake dimensional, normalized, and hybrid data models for analytics, reporting, and AI/ML workloads.
• Translate business requirements into scalable data models and enterprise data architecture with Data Engineering, Product, Architecture, and Business stakeholders.
• Lead legacy data warehouse modernization and migration to Snowflake, including performance, scalability, security, and cost optimization.
• Conduct architecture reviews, mentor engineers and data modelers, and evaluate emerging modeling, cloud, and automation capabilities.

Requirements

• Strong experience with conceptual, logical, physical, dimensional, 3NF, and data warehouse modeling.
• Hands-on experience with ERwin, ER/Studio, SAP PowerDesigner, Lucidchart, or equivalent tools.
• Strong knowledge of Snowflake modeling, performance optimization, security, scalability, and legacy-platform migration.
• Experience defining data architecture standards, metadata, lineage, quality, and governance practices.
• Proven technical leadership, architecture decision-making, mentoring, and stakeholder collaboration experience.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; 10+ years of relevant work experience.
