Senior Data Architect

Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States; Workplace: On-site

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the end-to-end development and execution of complex, enterprise-scale database projects.
• Design and oversee relational database environments with high availability and performance.
• Plan staff and database resources, manage project budgets, and reallocate resources to meet milestones.
• Supervise, mentor, and provide technical direction to support staff and engineering teams.
• Present DBMS concepts and architectural strategies to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Modernize and integrate existing data architectures while ensuring compliance with government data standards.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture and database management.
• Extensive knowledge of relational database environments and data modeling.
• Experience managing technical teams and supervising support staff on large-scale projects.
• Experience managing project budgets and reallocating technical resources.

Nice to have

• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Apache Spark, or cloud-native databases in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with GitLab and Jira.
• Data Architecture or DBMS certifications, such as Oracle, SQL Server, or AWS Certified Data Engineer.
• Familiarity with Data Lakehouse or Data Mesh concepts.
