Director, Producer Group Life Underwriting and Broker Relations

Location: Fully remote within any of the lower 48 U.S. states; some travel required. Employer-sponsored work authorization is not available.

Salary: $138,000–$243,000 annually; expected starting range: $138,000–$206,000.

What you will do

• Lead day-to-day Producer Group life underwriting and oversee decisions for sophisticated and large-face-amount cases.
• Serve as a senior escalation resource for complex medical, financial, occupational, avocational, mortality, morbidity, and underwriting matters.
• Partner with reinsurers, producers, brokers, sales, medical, operations, and business leaders on risk selection, capacity, case consultation, and placement strategy.
• Lead and develop a team of 10–12 underwriters through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and succession planning.
• Drive underwriting quality, audit readiness, regulatory compliance, service improvements, process efficiency, and customer experience.
• Manage budgets, staffing, production standards, quality expectations, and operational improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• More than 10 years of life underwriting experience, including complex medical and financial underwriting and sophisticated or large-face-amount cases.
• More than five years of formal leadership experience with a record of coaching, mentoring, or influencing underwriting professionals.
• Strong knowledge of life underwriting risk selection, mortality risk management, reinsurance, regulatory requirements, alternative rating methods, and brokerage distribution.
• Ability to make and clearly communicate decisions on highly complex risks, including policy language, rating plans, methodologies, and reinsurance.
• Superior communication, negotiation, presentation, judgment, conflict-resolution, and relationship-management skills.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States; employer-sponsored work authorization is not available.

Nice to have

• Professional designations or comparable studies such as FALU, FLMI, CLU, or ACS.
• EKG certification.
• Undergraduate studies in Business Administration or a related field.
