Location: Work from home in the Central Virginia Area, primarily covering Virginia and surrounding states, with day travel to policy locations 3–4 days per week and up to 50% travel. Richmond or Northern Virginia is preferred. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates living more than 50 miles from the preferred locations.
Salary: $88,000–$164,000 annually; expected starting range: $88,000–$132,000.

What you will do
- Investigate, evaluate, adjust, and resolve complicated and catastrophic large-loss property claims.
- Determine coverage, apply policy provisions and state requirements, calculate claim payments, and manage reserves.
- Write estimates using Xactimate and assess repair requirements, local repair procedures, and market pricing.
- Conduct onsite and virtual inspections, including rooftop inspections, and negotiate settlements while controlling loss and litigation expenses.
- Identify fraud and subrogation opportunities with the Special Investigation Unit, Subrogation, claims staff, defense counsel, and general counsel.
- Prepare severe incident and reinsurance reports, act for the Claims Manager, and mentor and train less experienced claims associates.
Requirements
- Five years of experience handling property claims, insurance processing, or field claims adjusting; large-loss experience is preferred.
- Solid Xactimate experience and the ability to write estimates and handle claims from start to finish.
- Construction experience in residential work, roofing, remodeling, or water mitigation.
- Strong customer service, written communication, verbal communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to safely access and inspect rooftops using a ladder, including first- and second-story roofs with pitches up to 8/12, and work outdoors in all weather.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record; willingness to work irregular hours, travel, remain on call when needed, and respond to catastrophes is required.

- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
- Large-loss claims experience.
- IIA or CPCU professional development.
- Advanced degree in law or a related field.

Hiring process
