AVP Surety Claims

What you will do

• Establish and oversee the Surety Claims department and manage all surety claims.
• Ensure compliant claims handling across coverage, investigation, liability, damages, evaluation, resolution, and recovery.
• Set reserves, pursue subrogation and recovery goals, and manage claims reporting requirements.
• Coach, develop, recruit, evaluate, and manage direct reports in coordination with HR.
• Support reinsurance placements and underwriting, and manage panel counsel, litigation, consultants, and third-party vendors.
• Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials while meeting service levels and KPI targets.

Requirements

• Comprehensive knowledge of the surety industry, bond language, coverage, and applicable state and federal laws.
• At least 10 years of experience in the legal or surety profession, specifically in surety claims handling, litigation, management, reporting, and recoveries.
• College degree required; J.D. preferred.
• Strong negotiation, communication, leadership, analytical, and process improvement skills.
• Ability to manage time and projects, meet deadlines, and travel as needed.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.
