Software Engineer (C++)

Location: Melbourne, Florida, United States; onsite. U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. Government TS/SCI security clearance with CI polygraph eligibility are required.

Salary: $95,000–$201,000 annually.

What you will do

• Convert algorithm definitions and prototypes into robust, efficient software for large image and sensor datasets.
• Develop reliable, maintainable, extensible, and performant production software for PUMA, a missile-warning system.
• Integrate and support microservices in operational production environments.
• Build and improve automated testing, verification, and validation tools.
• Debug, refactor, and modernize software codebases for new systems and platforms.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle and collaborate with algorithm developers, systems engineers, testers, and operational stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, scientific programming, algorithm implementation, or related technical fields.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, physics, engineering, or a related technical field; five years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
• Strong C++ development experience focused on reliable, maintainable production software.
• Experience developing, integrating, or supporting microservices in production environments.
• Experience with Git-based version control systems and strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility, or the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI access with a CI polygraph, is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kalman filtering, orbital mechanics, missile warning, tracking, sensor fusion, or related mission domains.
• Scientific, image, signal, or large-scale data processing experience.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, CI/CD, automated testing, or verification and validation frameworks.
• Experience with high-availability, operational, or mission-critical software systems.
