Tech Lead Manager (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Sydney, Australia. Current and unrestricted working rights are required; visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team, supporting technical development and career progression.
• Own delivery for the team’s domain by setting goals, defining milestones, and ensuring reliable, sustainable releases.
• Establish development workflows that balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
• Translate ambiguous technical problems into achievable plans and collaborate with Product, Customer Success, and Sales.
• Contribute hands-on to system design, architecture, production code, and code reviews across performance-critical components.
• Shape the engineering platform, data ingestion and structures, simulation engines, engineering-grade models, and 3D visualisations.

Requirements

• Experience as a technical people leader who has owned engineering delivery end to end.
• Experience leading, mentoring, and growing engineers at multiple levels.
• Strong track record architecting and shipping complex, production-grade systems.
• Ability to build context quickly in unfamiliar technical areas and make sound trade-offs.
• Product sense and experience partnering closely with Product on customer outcomes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with financial, investment, statistical modelling, analysis-heavy, or regulated products.
• Exposure to geospatial systems, utilities, energy, simulation, or physics-based platforms.
• Strong mathematical reasoning or a mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering background.
