Production Engineering Manager

What you will do

• Lead the Embedded team within Production Engineering and guide senior engineers through complex production challenges.
• Safeguard critical data, improve software change safety, and build reliability and observability into a major platform rewrite.
• Develop tooling and frameworks that increase service resilience during overload scenarios.
• Build trust and influence across engineering teams, guide cross-organisation initiatives, and shape technical decisions.
• Define the Embedded team’s operating model, scope, engagement practices, standards, and impact measurement.
• Coach senior engineers and engagement leads while creating psychological safety and developing technical and organisational leadership.

Requirements

• Experience leading senior software engineers and technical leads through complex or ambiguous work.
• Production experience with reliability, scalability, operational risk, and large-scale or high-criticality systems.
• Experience delivering technical initiatives across multiple teams and driving adoption of new engineering practices.
• Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals, including concurrency, multithreading, and data structures.
• Depth in Go, Python, Java, or C++; knowledge of system internals, networking, AWS or GCP, system design, and architecture.
• Familiarity with observability, capacity, failure modes, and the operational characteristics of production systems.

Nice to have

• Experience managing SRE, Production Engineering, or a related function.
• Experience with large-scale storage, CDN, networking, or distributed infrastructure.
• Experience developing senior engineers and technical leads.
• Experience defining the identity, operating model, or scope of a developing technical function.
