Communications Systems & Spectrum Compliance Lead (RF/Telecommunications)

Location: El Segundo, California, United States. Onsite work at company facilities, test ranges, and customer or partner-nation sites, with 30–50% domestic and international travel.

Salary: $150,000–$190,000 annual base compensation, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the technical performance of RF/microwave links, 5G and cellular modems, SATCOM terminals, fiber interconnects, tactical radios, and customer mesh networks.
• Design, test, and validate link budgets, network architectures, failover paths, and pre-deployment communications readiness.
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues in the field and remotely to maintain system uptime.
• Evaluate and pilot SATCOM, private 5G/O-RAN, mesh networking, software-defined radio, and PNT-independent communications technologies.
• Research country-specific spectrum licensing, cellular bands, Starlink restrictions, type approvals, customs, encryption, and frequency coordination requirements.
• Coordinate with engineering, legal, export-control, program management, DoD spectrum channels, and foreign partners on demonstrations and deliveries.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, RF Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 7 years of experience in RF/wireless communications systems engineering, spectrum management, or telecommunications regulatory affairs.
• Hands-on experience with tactical radios, SATCOM terminals, point-to-point RF/microwave links, and cellular/5G modem integration.
• Working knowledge of ITU Radio Regulations, national spectrum authorities, and US export controls including ITAR and EAR.
• Experience supporting international deployments, demonstrations, or Foreign Military Sales programs, with strong technical writing and cross-functional communication skills.
• Must currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; must satisfy applicable customer, program, export-control, background, and drug-testing requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with L3Harris MPU5/ANW2, Starlink mobility or enterprise terminals, DISA, the Joint Spectrum Center, or service-level spectrum management offices.
• Experience with national type-approval processes such as CE/RED, ANATEL, SRRC, and WPC-ETA.
• Military or defense-contractor communications planning experience and relationships with foreign telecom regulators or in-country integrators.
• Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.
