TL;DR
Regulatory Affairs Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and executing RF, spectrum, licensing, and compliance analyses for a global network of phased-array satellite ground stations with an accent on interference analysis, spectrum sharing, and regulatory coordination. Focus on building simulations, translating technical constraints into licensing materials, and coordinating with U.S. and international regulators to enable reliable deployment.

Location: On-site in Torrance, California, United States

Estimated base salary: $130,000–$170,000 per year, plus equity, discretionary performance bonuses, and benefits.

What you will do

  • Perform RF interference, spectrum-sharing, satellite-coordination, and link-budget analyses.
  • Develop simulations incorporating regulatory and geographic constraints, network growth, customer expansion, and coordination strategies.
  • Translate technical analyses into regulatory recommendations supporting customer capture and business development.
  • Engage with the FCC, DoD, NASA, NOAA, and other regulators regarding licenses, applications, and compliance.
  • Draft, manage, and submit licensing, coordination, and permitting materials.
  • Integrate technical work across engineering, growth, legal, and government-affairs functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in system design, manufacturing, design, or test engineering; internships and project experience are applicable.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, C++, or comparable tools for RF-system modeling and analysis.
  • Strong communication, technical writing, organization, prioritization, and project-management skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance as a condition of employment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations under ITAR.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in engineering, physical science, or space policy.
  • Understanding of satellite hardware and orbital mechanics.
  • Experience coordinating across engineering disciplines and technical areas.
  • Experience working with engineers, managers, and U.S. Government agencies.
