TL;DR
LMR Engineer (Land Mobile Radio): Supporting and improving secure land mobile radio systems, trunked radio networks, dispatch consoles, and communications towers with an accent on system operations, radio programming, spectrum management, and documentation. Focus on developing operational and disaster recovery plans, troubleshooting installations, supporting government stakeholders, and maintaining reliable communications for first responders and military users.

Location: Fort Belvoir, Virginia, USA; onsite office work within the continental US with occasional travel to National Capital Region offices and Georgia.

Salary: $120,000–$145,000 per year

What you will do

  • Support Land Mobile Radio systems, including the Base Support Trunked Radio System, dispatch consoles, and related interfaces.
  • Monitor system utilization, tenant users, radio programming, vendors, installers, and warranty-related issues.
  • Program and reprogram radios and consoles, and develop radio and console personalities for operational requirements.
  • Assist with communications management, testing, key management, maintenance, disaster recovery, and spectrum planning.
  • Maintain technical documentation, as-built records, drawings, diagrams, standard operating procedures, and contingency plans.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in customer meetings, installations, system improvements, and radio operations training.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work onsite within the continental United States.
  • At least three years of relevant LMR engineering experience.
  • Active or obtainable SECRET security clearance is required and must be maintained.
  • IAT-II certification is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of customer communications networks and systems.
  • Harris P25 certification or completed training.

Nice to have

  • CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • CCNA-Security, GSEC, ISC2, or SSCP certification.
  • Experience with spectrum and communications tower management.
  • Experience supporting military, government, first responder, or vendor stakeholders.
