Specialist, Life Underwriting (Brokerage) REMOTE

Location: Fully remote within any of the lower 48 U.S. states; the role is listed in Ohio and may require non-standard hours and some travel.

Salary: $88,000–$164,000 annually; expected starting range $88,000–$132,000.

What you will do

• Evaluate, select, classify, and underwrite complex medical and non-medical life insurance applications.
• Determine and authorize additional evidence of insurability, including medical examinations, blood profiles, physician reports, interviews, and alternative medical information.
• Apply accelerated and fluid-less underwriting processes, establish risk classes, and make decisions within delegated authority.
• Assess financial information and insurable interest, including sophisticated beneficiary and business arrangements.
• Coordinate automatic and facultative reinsurance and consult with underwriting and medical specialists on complex cases.
• Support brokerage partners, mentor less experienced underwriters, and contribute to underwriting projects and process improvements.

Requirements

• Five years of life underwriting experience.
• In-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, non-medical risks, financial underwriting, and life insurance products.
• Ability to evaluate complex applications, negotiate offers, communicate decisions, and collaborate on difficult cases.
• Knowledge of reinsurance and independent distribution systems for investment life products.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States; employer-sponsored work authorization is not available, and hirify.global does not participate in the STEM OPT Extension program.
• Preferred education in a medical-related discipline, insurance, risk management, economics, finance, or business management.

Nice to have

• LOMA Level 1 Certificate or progress toward ALMI, ALU, or related professional designations.
• Experience with complex brokerage-oriented underwriting and facultative reinsurance partners.
