Senior Actuary, P&C Reserving - General Liability & Umbrella (Remote)

Location: Remote within any of the lower 48 U.S. states; the role is associated with Columbus, Ohio.

Salary: $149,000–$262,000 national range; expected starting range of $149,000–$223,000 annually.

What you will do

• Own the design, execution, review, and communication of quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reserve analyses for General Liability and Umbrella portfolios.
• Evaluate reserve adequacy, volatility, uncertainty, and key drivers across lines, segments, programs, and portfolios.
• Select, apply, document, and review actuarial methods, assumptions, diagnostics, and scenario analyses.
• Monitor severity, frequency, claim closures, social inflation, large losses, litigation, reinsurance, exposure changes, and claims-handling trends.
• Translate actuarial findings into recommendations for Commercial Lines, Claims, Finance, Risk, Pricing, Underwriting, and Product leaders.
• Partner with Data, Technology, and Actuarial Modernization teams to improve automation, controls, reproducibility, and visualization.

Requirements

• FCAS designation required.
• Strong knowledge of P&C reserving, especially long-tailed casualty lines such as General Liability and Umbrella.
• Generally eight or more years of actuarial experience, including commercial lines, casualty, reserving, or a related analytical area.
• Experience leading reserve studies and evaluating complex or multi-segment portfolios.
• Proficiency with Excel, SQL, R, Python, SAS, Arius, or similar actuarial and data platforms.
• Employer-sponsored work authorization is not available, and the role does not qualify for the STEM OPT extension program.

Nice to have

• Experience with General Liability and Umbrella portfolios.
• Experience with automation, reproducibility, visualization, predictive modeling, and data mining.
