Associate Counsel, California (Remote)

Location: Remote within the United States; position associated with Concord, California and hirify.global Staff Counsel offices in Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, and San Francisco

Annual salary: $112,750–$186,550

What you will do

• Defend lawsuits filed in California courts and handle assigned first-party insurance defense matters.
• Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Advise the Claims Department on liability, damages, and case value.
• Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery.
• Conduct and defend depositions, examinations before trial, and examinations under oath.
• Defend matters at trial or dispositive hearings and travel to trials, hearings, depositions, meetings, and conferences as required.

Requirements

• 2–6+ years of litigation experience in insurance defense and/or personal injury law.
• Juris Doctor degree.
• Admission to the California Bar and an active license in good standing to practice law in California.
• Ability to meet and maintain applicable licensing and Continuing Legal Education requirements.
• Strong written communication, organization, prioritization, multitasking, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to learn and apply substantial technical and procedural information.

Nice to have

• Civil litigation experience.
• Insurance defense-related litigation experience.
• Professional communication skills in person, by telephone, and in written correspondence or email.
