Engineering Manager, People Applications (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based in Washington D.C., Austin, Baltimore, Chicago, Hartford, New Haven, Philadelphia, Miami, or Atlanta, United States

Salary: $163,200–$240,000 USD annual base salary, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of full-stack engineers across US and Hungary locations.
• Define the team’s technical vision and architectural roadmap for People Applications.
• Oversee development of employee-lifecycle products covering talent acquisition, compensation, and employee experience.
• Lead the development of data pipelines, automation, and integrations with AI tools and LLMs.
• Partner with product managers, UI/UX designers, and business stakeholders to deliver user-focused solutions.
• Establish practices for development, testing, release management, monitoring, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience managing people and leading full-stack teams of 5 or more engineers.
• At least 7 years of industry software development experience, ideally with HR-related applications.
• Experience with distributed system design, scaling, performance optimization, and Generative AI development, including prompt flows, agents, guardrails, and knowledge-base optimization.
• Strong technical background with Node.js/TypeScript, React, Python, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including working with remote colleagues across time zones.
