Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Remote. The role supports international employees through an Employer of Record; U.S.-specific benefits apply only to employees working in the United States.

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 USD base.

What you will do

• Lead 6–8 engineers across the SSH client, web application, and backend services.
• Own frontend, terminal/SSH client, backend, API, performance, and long-term codebase architecture.
• Establish lightweight planning, delivery, code review, on-call, and incident response processes.
• Partner with Product on roadmap sequencing, technical debt, customer needs, and engineering tradeoffs.
• Review designs, unblock engineers, handle incidents, and contribute code for approximately 20% of the role.
• Hire, onboard, mentor, and develop engineers while communicating technical risks across the organization.

Requirements

• 5–10+ years of engineering experience, including substantial experience as a senior engineer or tech lead.
• 1–5+ years of direct engineering management experience covering hiring, performance management, career development, and delivery processes.
• Strong full-stack depth across frontend architecture, backend services, API contracts, and system tradeoffs.
• Experience building practical engineering processes from startup-stage conditions.
• Experience hiring, interviewing, closing, and onboarding engineers.
• Ability to work autonomously with founders, Product, Design, customers, and other cross-functional stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience at a Seed–Series B startup or scaling an engineering organization through rapid growth.
• Background in developer tools, infrastructure tooling, or technical-user-facing products.
• Exposure to AI/LLM-powered products or AI-augmented workflows.
• Familiarity with TypeScript, Python, AWS, terminal/CLI clients, TUI frameworks, or SSH.
• Customer-facing experience with discovery, design partners, or production debugging.
